What should I do in the event of a claim?

  • Call the appropriate phone number from the table below.
  • You will be asked to provide;
    • Your policy number (stated on your policy document)
    • Your name
    • Police incident number (if you are a victim of theft, malicious damage, vandalism or something is lost or damage away from home)
    • Approximate cost to replace/repair the item

  • Do
    • Notify MMA Multi-trip Assistance immediately in the event of your hospitalisation, your intended repatriation for medical reasons or the need to curtail or extend your holiday or journey
    • Notify any loss, theft or damage to luggage whilst in the custody of the carrier to the carrier and obtain a written report.
    • Notify any loss or theft of personal luggage, money or valuables to the local police immediately and to the travel organiser representative if there is one.
    • Obtain receipts for any expenditure which might be the subject of a claim
    • If medical attention is required, a medical certificate must be obtained from the medical authority providing such treatment and detailing the nature of the illness or injury
    • Keep all bank vouchers/travellers cheques details, currency conversion slips as they will be needed in the event of a claim for loss of money
    • If your holiday or journey is extended or curtailed due to your injury or illness arising abroad, you will need to obtain a letter from the Medical Authority concerned confirming that the extension or curtailment is medically necessary.
  • Don’t
    • Admit fault if you or any member of your family are being held responsible for injury or damage

How we settle your claim

  • As long as the loss or damage is covered under your policy we will decide whether to settle a claim by either repairing or replacing property. Alternatively at our option we will pay the cost at which we can replace the item through our network of suppliers
  • An amount for wear, tear and depreciation will be taken off
  • We will take off the excess from the amount we agree to settle your claim. The excess will apply to each separate incident.
  • The most we will pay is the sum insured shown in your schedule or policy
